SWIM SCHOOL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Absences and Make-ups

Make-up lessons are only offered when the pool is closed. This is very rare and usually occurs because of extreme weather conditions or mechanical issues.

When pool schedules allow, from June to August Fridays will be used as make-up days. Otherwise, make-ups will be scheduled by Tide Swim School where space permits.

If a situation occurs when no make-up class can be scheduled, a credit will be posted to your account to use for future lessons. WE DO NOT ISSUE REFUNDS.

If  a swimmer misses a class due to illness, vacation, school functions, family obligations or other personal or family reasons, no make-up, credit, or refund will be offered.

When possible, Tide will send you an email if there is a cancellation of your class.

If a class is canceled due to weather with less than 15 minutes remaining, no make-up class will be offered.

A registration may be canceled for a CREDIT of all but the registration fee if the cancellation is done at least 2 weeks prior to the start date of the session. After that deadline, courses cannot be dropped and no credits will be issued.

Parent and Child Responsibilities

Parents should encourage children to use the restroom before class.

Parents of children under the age of 13 must stay in or near the pool facility during the class, and must be on deck waiting for their child 5 minutes prior to the end of the class.

Parents of younger children should stay on deck to assist their child to the restroom if needed.

Tide Swim School strives to keep a safe, family-friendly atmosphere. If a child or parent is consistently disruptive or disrespectful, they will be removed from the program.

Parents are asked to remain in the designated lesson viewing area and to refrain from filming classes, out of respect for the privacy of the other swimmers in the pool.

Preparation For The First Day Of Class

Children will need a swimsuit, towel, a good pair of goggles, and a kickboard. We recommend tinted goggles for outdoor pools.

Tide will provide swimmers with a Tide Swim School swim cap on the first day and swimmers should bring this to class each day. Additional caps are available for purchase at $5.00 each.

If an instructor evaluates a swimmer on the first day and determines that he/she has not been properly placed, the instructor will recommend a more appropriate class that reflects the swimmer's ability level.

Instructors will be continually evaluating swimmers and may recommend another class at any time during the session if it is more appropriate for the swimmer's ability.

WE BELIEVE IN SMALL GROUP LESSONS!

Small group swimming lessons offer several
advantages over private lessons, including:

  • More affordable. Private lessons are typically more expensive than small-group lessons. This is because the instructor is only working with one student at a time.
  • More social. Small group lessons provide an opportunity for children to socialize with other children their age. This can help them build confidence and make friends.
  • More challenging. Small group lessons can be more challenging than private lessons because the instructor is able to provide more feedback and instruction to each student. This can help students learn more quickly and improve their swimming skills.
  • More fun. Small group lessons can be more fun than private lessons because children enjoy being around other children. This can help them stay motivated and engaged in the learning process.

Overall, small group swimming lessons offer several advantages over private lessons. If you are looking for an affordable, social, and challenging way for your child to learn to swim, small group lessons may be the best option for you.

We adjust our class size based on age:

  • Ages 3 to 4: two swimmers per class
  • Ages 5 and older: three swimmers per class

GET A HEAD START IN LIFE

TEACH THEM TO SWIM!

"Children who learn how to swim at a young age are reaching many developmental milestones earlier than the norm...Lead researcher Professor Robyn Jorgensen says the study shows young children who participate in early-years swimming achieve a wide range of skills earlier than the normal population."
